Departure to Italy, night on board the flight

Arrival Rome. Meeting with our representative at Leonardo da Vinci airport and transfer by bus to  the house of the Medici Family, the Homeland of the Renaissance – Florence. Check in to our hotel. The rest of the day will be free. Welcome dinner at local restaurant.  Overnight.

Breakfast. Meeting with our local guide at the hotel  for a panoramic tour of the city that will take us to know  the  Piazza del Duomo to admire Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery’s incomparable bronze doors by Ghiberti, known as the Gates of Paradise. We will then see Piazza della Signoria, the city’s most beautiful square with marvelous statuary and fountains, the Palazzo Vecchio, and the 14th-century Ponte Vecchio. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Santa Croce. Free afternoon for shopping. Overnight.

Breakfast.  Departure from the hotel with our Bus to Assisi,  the tranquil town of St. Francis, built on pink stone on the slopes of Mount Subasio. Stop at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and see the little church of the “Porziuncola,” where St. Francis consecrated St. Clare as the Bride of Christ and where he had the vision which inspired the Pardon of Assisi. Proceed to the upper town. Meet with our local guide to visit the Basilica of Santa Clare (where the incorrupt body of Saint is located).  Then walk the narrow streets to the Basilica of St. Francis, where we will visit his tomb (Holy Mass).  Check in to our hotel. The rest of the day will be free. Dinner at local restaurant.  Overnight.

Breakfast.  Departure from the hotel with our Bus to Siena, birthplace of St. Catherine as well as many famous artists. See the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, dominated by the Torre del Mangia, and visit the majestic black-and-white Cathedral (Holy Mass) with scenes inlaid in the marble floors and masterpieces by Michelangelo, Donatello and Bernini. Afternoon free for shopping before we return to Assisi in the early evening.  Dinner at local restaurant.  Overnight.

Breakfast.  Departure from the hotel by minivan near the top of Mount Subasio to visit the Carceri Hermitage, a sanctuary in the woods that evolved around the cave chosen by Francis for prayer and retreat (Holy Mass).  In the afternoon, we will enjoy an excursion to a winery in Montefalco for a visit of the cellars and tasting of the famous wine “Sagrantino,” one of the best Italian red wines. Return to Assisi in the evening.  Dinner at local restaurant.  Overnight.

Breakfast.  Departure to the Sabina region, a land of olive groves and hilltop villages. Stop to attend Sunday Mass at the ancient Sanctuary of Vescovio, a beautifully frescoed Romanesque church surrounded by Roman ruins. Then head to a nearby farm to learn the secrets of homemade pasta by watching a cooking class followed by a delicious lunch with local specialties. Continue to Rome, Arrival in the evening.  Check in to our hotel NOVA DOMUS. Dinner on your own. Overnight.

Breakfast.  Meeting with our guide and departure by Bus for a full day tour. We will visit the Circus Maximus, the Palatine Hill and the Arch of Constantine before entering the Colosseum, the Flavian amphitheatre dating back to 80 AD, a masterpiece of ancient architecture where Christians were literally thrown to the lions. Proceed on foot through the Roman Forum, the city’s religious, political and commercial center in the days of Caesar. In the afternoon, visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the world’s largest basilica built on the tomb of the apostle Peter, revised throughout the centuries and decorated in Baroque style by Bernini. See Michelangelo’s statue of the “Pieta” and the famous baldaquin crowning the pontifical altar. Dinner at local restaurant.  Overnight.

Breakfast.  Departure from the hotel with our Bus to Castel Gandolfo to visit the Apostolic Palace, the former summer residence of the Popes, recently opened to visitors by Pope Francis. We will admire the Papal Apartment, paintings, relics, liturgical vestments, uniforms and other curiosities. Also on display are the sedan chair of Pope Pius IX and the BMW used by Pope John Paul II. On board of a comfortable ecological vehicle, we will then discover the Barberini Gardens, the natural and archaeological treasure of the Pontifical villa. Back to Rome in the early afternoon.
In the evening, experience a special private tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel “after hours,” a unique chance to visit—without the usual crowd—treasures like the Raphael Rooms, the Gallery of Tapestries, the Gallery of Maps, and the Sistine Chapel, a masterpiece of Renaissance art and the place where the conclave meets, with the magnificent Last Judgment by Michelangelo. After the visit, enjoy dinner inside the Vatican. Back to the hotel. Overnight.

Breakfast.  Transfer from the hotel with our motorcoach to the Vatican to participate at the Papal Audience with the Holy Father Francis. In the afternoon meeting with our guide for a half day walking to visit the most famous and charming squares of Rome: the Spanish Steps, dominated by the majestic stairways of Trinità dei Monti; the Trevi Fountain, a grandiose late Baroque monument; and the Pantheon, a former temple converted into a church. Back to our Hotel. Overnight.

Breakfast.  Meeting with our guide and departure by Bus for a half day tour. We will visit St. Mary the Major Basilica (Holy Mass), St. John in Lateran. Afternoon is free. Overnight.

Breakfast.   Your final day in Rome is completely free for independent sightseeing or shopping. In the evening, for our farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant. Overnight.

Breakfast  and transfer on our private bus to Leonardo da Vinci airport to board our flight back to USA. Arrival same day.

Llegada a Roma. Encuentro con nuestro representante en el aeropuerto Leonardo da Vinci y traslado en autobús a la casa de la Familia Medici, la Patria del Renacimiento – Florencia. Regístrese en nuestro hotel. El resto del día será libre. Cena de bienvenida en restaurante local. Alojamiento.

Encuentro con nuestro guía local en el hotel para un recorrido panorámico por la ciudad que nos llevará a conocer la Piazza del Duomo para admirar la Catedral de Santa María del Fiore, el Campanario de Giotto y las incomparables puertas de bronce del Baptisterio de Ghiberti, conocidas como las Puertas de Paraíso. Luego veremos la Piazza della Signoria, la plaza más hermosa de la ciudad con maravillosas estatuas y fuentes, el Palazzo Vecchio y el Ponte Vecchio del siglo XIV. Celebrar Misa en la Basílica de Santa Croce. Tarde libre para compras.  Alojamiento.

Deasayuno   Salida del hotel con nuestro Autobús hacia Asís, el tranquilo pueblo de San Francisco, construido sobre piedra rosa en las laderas del Monte Subasio. Deténgase en la Basílica de Santa María de los Ángeles y vea la pequeña iglesia de la “Porciúncula“, donde San Francisco consagró a Santa Clara como la Esposa de Cristo y donde tuvo la visión que inspiró el Perdón de Asís. Continúe hasta la ciudad alta. Reúnete con nuestro guía local para visitar la Basílica de Santa Clara (donde se encuentra el cuerpo incorrupto de la Santa). Luego caminaremos por las calles estrechas hasta la Basílica de San Francisco, donde visitaremos su tumba (Santa Misa). Regístrese en nuestro hotel. El resto del día será libre. Deasayuno. Salida del hotel con nuestro autobús hacia Siena, lugar de nacimiento de Santa Catalina y de muchos artistas famosos. Vea la Piazza del Campo en forma de concha, dominada por la Torre del Mangia, y visite la majestuosa Catedral en blanco y negro (Santa Misa) con escenas incrustadas en los pisos de mármol y obras maestras de Miguel Ángel, Donatello y Bernini. Tarde libre para ir de compras antes de regresar a Asís a primera hora de la tarde. Cena en restaurante local .   Alojamiento .

Deasayuno.   Salida del hotel en minivan cerca de la cima del Monte Subasio para visitar la Ermita de Carceri, un santuario en el bosque que se desarrolló alrededor de la cueva elegida por Francisco para la oración y el retiro (Santa Misa). Por la tarde, disfrutaremos de una excursión a una bodega en Montefalco para visitar las bodegas y degustar el famoso vino “Sagrantino“, uno de los mejores vinos tintos italianos. Regreso a Asís por la tarde.  Cena en restaurante local.   Alojamiento.

Deasayuno.   Salida hacia la región de Sabina, tierra de olivares y pueblos encaramados. Haga una parada para asistir a la misa dominical en el antiguo Santuario de Vescovio, una iglesia románica con hermosos frescos rodeada de ruinas romanas. Luego dirígete a una granja cercana para aprender los secretos de la pasta casera viendo una clase de cocina seguida de un delicioso almuerzo con especialidades locales. Continuación hacia Roma, llegada por la tarde. Regístrese en nuestro hotel NOVA DOMUS. Cena por su cuenta. Alojamiento.

Deasayuno.  Encuentro con nuestro guía y salida en Bus para un tour de día completo. Visitaremos el Circo Máximo, el Monte Palatino y el Arco de Constantino antes de ingresar al Coliseo, el Anfiteatro Flavio que data del año 80 d.C., una obra maestra de la arquitectura antigua donde los cristianos fueron literalmente arrojados a los leones. Continúe a pie por el Foro Romano, el centro religioso, político y comercial de la ciudad en la época de César. Por la tarde, visite la Basílica de San Pedro, la basílica más grande del mundo construida sobre la tumba del apóstol Pedro, revisada a lo largo de los siglos y decorada en estilo barroco por Bernini. Vea la estatua de la “Piedad” de Miguel Ángel y el famoso baldaquino que corona el altar pontificio.  Cena en restaurante local .   Alojamiento .

Desayuno.   Salida del hotel con nuestro Bus hacia Castel Gandolfo para visitar el Palacio Apostólico, antigua residencia de verano de los Papas, recientemente abierta a los visitantes por el Papa Francisco. Admiraremos el Apartamento Papal, pinturas, reliquias, vestimentas litúrgicas, uniformes y otras curiosidades. También se exhiben la silla de manos del Papa Pío IX y el BMW utilizado por el Papa Juan Pablo II. A bordo de un cómodo vehículo ecológico, descubriremos los Jardines Barberini, tesoro natural y arqueológico de la villa pontificia. Regreso a Roma a primera hora de la tarde. Por la noche, experimente un recorrido privado especial por los Museos Vaticanos y la Capilla Sixtina “fuera de horario”, una oportunidad única de visitar, sin la multitud habitual, tesoros como las Salas de Rafael, la Galería de Tapices, la Galería de Mapas y la Capilla Sixtina, obra maestra del arte renacentista y lugar de reunión del cónclave, con el magnífico Juicio Final de Miguel Ángel. Después de la visita, disfruta cena adentro del Vatican. Regreso al hotel.  Alojamiento.

Deasayuno   Traslado desde el hotel con nuestro autocar al Vaticano para participar en la Audiencia Papal con el Santo Padre Francisco. Por la tarde encuentro con nuestro guía para caminar medio día para visitar las plazas más famosas y encantadoras de Roma: La Plaza de España, dominada por las majestuosas escaleras de Trinità dei Monti; la Fontana di Trevi, un grandioso monumento del barroco tardío; y el Panteón, un antiguo templo reconvertido en iglesia. Regreso a nuestro Hotel. Alojamiento.

Deasayuno    Encuentro con nuestro guía y salida en Bus para un tour de medio día. Visitaremos la Basílica de Santa María la Mayor (Santa Misa), San Juan de Letrán. La tarde es libre. Alojamiento .

Deasayuno     Tu último día en Roma es completamente libre para hacer turismo o ir de compras por tu cuenta. Por la noche, cena de despedida en un restaurante tradicional. Alojamiento.
